XB 370 crossbow review - if only these issues got fixed!

When you want to go light, the XB 370 is the way to go. As basic as it may be, the XB 370 does stand out in a way by delivering what you expect from it. With enough kinetic energy and firepower to deal with small to medium targets, and control needed to manage shooting from all sorts of angles, this is a practical and efficient crossbow you can rely on.

Do take note that since it isn’t preassembled you’ll need to properly set it up yourself. The manufacturer did provide a guide to help in the assembly - just be sure that everything is one right. The risk of a crossbow improperly assembled equates to one’s skill of setting it up. An incorrect setup may result in gear damage, and worse, injury.

Also, consider replacing the scope and the arrows of this crossbow. You are better off using quality alternatives available in the market. A scope that does not properly adjust and arrows that aren’t strong enough will not bring out the full potential of the XB 370.

All in all, this is a reliable crossbow. You just need to be aware of the potential issues to make the most out of this option.

Lower power output does not mean that a crossbow has issues. With this thought in mind, we’d like to know more about the Wildgame Innovations XB 370 crossbow. Will this crossbow, having a “lighter” damage potential matchup against other models in its category? Is this crossbow a reliable piece of archery equipment to have out while hunting? Let’s learn more about what this crossbow has to offer below:

Ease of Assembly

Unlike other crossbow models in the market, the XB 370 doesn't come preassembled. Setting it up is relatively easy, though. And beginners may find the entire process easy, with a user-friendly guide that comes packed with the crossbow. Here are the basic steps that will help you get your XB 370 ready:

  1. Have an allen wrench ready. Attach the foot stirrup at the front of the riser assembly by screwing it in.
  2. Inspect the cable slide. Slide that part between the cables of the riser assembly. Make sure that the deeper end of the cable slide is placed just right above the top cable.
  3. With the cable slide in place, attach the riser assembly towards the stock assembly. The cables and the cable slide should fit comfortably in the recessed area of the stock assembly.
  4. Next, secure and push the riser assembly towards the stock assembly by screwing the two parts together. Make sure to screw an additional riser screw at the back of the riser assembly.
  5. Prep the quiver and its mount bracket. After inspection, screw them together.
  6. With the quiver ready, screw the part onto the bottom of the crossbow stock.
  7. Position the quiver towards the bottom of the riser assembly. Have the quiver mount lever in a forward potion towards the stock assembly.
  8. Check the scope and the rail of the crossbow. Attach the scope on the rail by using the metal latches. Make sure that the scope is positioned at a minimum of 3 inches from your eye when the crossbow is shouldered.
  9. Lubricate the cables, strings, and serving of the crossbow.
  10. Cock the crossbow with the rope cocking device.
  11. Engage the crossbow by loading an arrow in it.

The entire process shouldn’t take more than an hour (pro hunters can get this done around just 30 minutes).

Focusing on Safety

The XB 370 offers a bare and basic approach when it comes to crossbow enhancements - it’s as standard as it gets. But that doesn’t mean that this crossbow loses out in the safety department. Integrated onto the crossbow's construction itself, the XB 370 comes with a flared finger protector. This allows for a stabler and safer grip when handling the crossbow. Additionally, the XB 370's skeletonized stock has a pass-through fore-end for an even safer shooting experience.

XB 370 Crossbow Firepower Check

At a velocity of 370 fps, this crossbow does offer just enough force to take down prey such as deer. The power generated by the XB 370 may not be as hard-hitting as other crossbows in the market. But beginners and even seasoned shooters may enjoy the force and control that this crossbow provides. Expect this crossbow to be more than enough for small to medium sized prey.

XB 370 Crossbow Ballistic Data

With a kinetic energy output generation of 112.5 ft./lbs., the additional force offered by this crossbow is a much-appreciated treat to take down targets in an ethical manner. Even from a far distance, the kinetic energy generated should give that extra push needed to quickly dispatch targets.

Construction and Durability

The spilt limbs work as expected.

The spilt limbs work as expected.

The XB 370 features a split limb design. This tried-and-tested setup matches well with the cams on it, which provides both the speed and power to launch an arrow efficiently.

Overall weight is manageable even for beginner shooters. This proves to be even more excellent for veterans who want a crossbow that they quickly use in the wild.

Durability is standard to conventional crossbows in the industry. Expect the XB 370 to be able to withstand normal crossbow gear wear and tear. However, proper care and maintenance is needed when using this crossbow. Since it isn’t preassembled, gear damage may result from faulty or wrong setup.

Accuracy and Shooting Speed Checks

The pistol grip is great for hunting.

The pistol grip is great for hunting.

The XB 370’s construction does result in giving it standard accuracy. Shots are fast and crisp, mainly because of the pistol grip design it  incorporates.

XB 370 Crossbow Hunting Cocking and Aiming Information

Cocking is easy with this crossbow. With a rope cocking device that comes with the crossbow, shooters will find the cocking process an easy affair.

A scope also comes packed with the crossbow. A fixed focus type, you may opt to replace this scope with other better alternatives in the market - you’re not getting the best out of the XB 370 with this scope!

Practical Hunting Usage

Standard seems to be the best way to describe the XB 370. There really isn’t anything wrong with that - you get what you need when you’re out hunting. The XB 370 does have enough force (firepower and kinetic energy combined) to handle smaller prey. The main hurdle that this crossbow does seem to have is it may be prone to damage. It’s subjective and does deal with a user’s skill on setting a crossbow up. But a faulty setup may result in missed opportunities when out hunting.

Why the XB 370 Crossbow is Recommended

Here are some factors on what makes this crossbow a good choice:

Simple Yet Excellent

There are no complicated enhancements or processes to consider when using this crossbow. All you need to do is to properly set up the XB 370 and you’re good to go!

Easy Cocking

No need to worry of a strenuous cocking experience. The XB 370 is easy to cock, making it a really good choice for hunters who need to be in the shooting zone ASAP.

Issues that May Need to be Addressed in the XB 370 Crossbow

Here are potential problems you may need to consider addressing when choosing this crossbow:

Inferior Accessories

Bringing out the full potential of this crossbow can only be done with accessories that aren’t packed together with it. The scope doesn’t offer the versatility in gauging distances properly. Additionally, the arrows that come with the XB 370 aren’t that tough or accurate. You may want to opt to replace these accessories with better alternatives in the market.

Setup Problems

Although the XB 370 is easy to set up, missing a crucial step or not following directions down to the dot may result in disaster. Of course, this is subjective since it all boils down to one’s skill in setting a crossbow up. But that’s the catch of equipment that isn’t preassembled - the risk of potential damage corresponds to one’s skill in setting the gear up!
